Brittany Lynn Carty is the 2005 USS Magoffin Veteran's Association Scholarship Recipient. Mr. Tom Haglage presented her with a certificate and a check for $1,250 on May 18th, 2005, at the Magoffin County High School Awards Night. Brittany is the 18 year old daughter of Tim and Regina Carty of Salyersville, KY. She is graduating from MCHS with high honors (3.88 GPA) and is one of seven MCHS graduates who will receive the prestigious Commonwealth Diploma presented by the Kentucky Board of Education. Brittany is a member of the Mu Alpha Theta and SADD/Champion. She has also served as a PSI (Postponing Sexual Involvement), Best You Can Be, and TNT (Towards No Tobacco Use) Teen Leader. Brittany is also a member of Who's Who Among American High School Students. Brittany plans to attend Morehead State University this fall where she will pursue a career in the medical field. She and her family would like to thank the veterans of the USS Magoffin for this scholarship.
